Mikumi National Park is the fourth largest park in Tanzania covering an area of 3,230 sq kms (1,225 sq miles). It lies to the west of Dar es Salaam and is easily accessed from the city being on the main Mororgoro and Iringa road and is an easy 4 hour drive from Dar es Salaam. The main road runs through the park. Early Morning Departure from Zanzibar (At your hotel or any destination) Transfer from your hotel in Zanzibar to the airport. Board a flight to Mikumi National Park (flight time is usually around 1 hour). Arrival and Game Drive in Mikumi. Upon arrival at Mikumi Airstrip, you'll be met by a safari guide and vehicle. Enjoy a guided game drive in Mikumi National Park, known for its diverse wildlife including lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and buffalo. The game drive will take you through different areas of the park, such as the Mkata Plains and the Hippo Pool. Lunch in Mikumi: Enjoy a packed lunch amidst the natural beauty of the park. Afternoon Game Drive and Departure. Continue your game drive, exploring more of the park's wildlife. At the end of the afternoon, head back to Mikumi Airstrip. Return to Zanzibar. Take a flight back to Zanzibar (usually around 3:30 PM).
